As I write this entry my host seems to be down again! For the past few days any attempt to contact my website shanecassidy.com have failed. I’m not really happy because there are some maintenance tasks I’d like to carry out! I have emailed my host on many occasions trying to get the issue resolved. Last Sunday I got a reply saying that they were looking into the problem but I have not had reply saying that they had resolved the issue. I will keep trying….
It looks like Windows is not going to be the only OS to regularly check in with servers. The update not only fixes security holes it will also now check in with apple servers three times a day apparently to make sure widgets are up to date.
In a surprise move, Microsoft is bending to pressure from governments and will sponsor an open source project to build tools that enable conversion between its Open XML formats in Office 2007 and OpenDocument. The forthcoming Office suite will also support an add-in for saving directly to ODF.
From what we know, it will feature a 0.3-megapixel video conferencing camera, 64MB of internal memory, MicroSD card slot, and stereo speakers.
Network manageres are using tubes of super glue to protect their systems from data theft. Outfits are getting so hot and bothered at the loss of corporate data that they are removing writable drives and ordering network staff to pour superglue into USB ports. Nothing a little “cut and paste” won’t fix!
